Buy it off him! Keep it in the family.

I know this sentiment isn't really right for the WTS forum, but: "I have never been taken with the idea of selling a gun. When you possess a firearm, you possess something of importance. If you trade it for cash, you have lost it - and the cash in your hand will soon be gone. Sell something else!" -- Jeff Cooper

            I wish I could.

I'm in the same spot my father is in, low cash flow.

Would I like to keep it? Hell yeah.

I'm not selling my grandfather, just something that he once owned. If this gun can give someone else great joy, I can live with that.

We all agree that this is not good for the sale forum but I will voice with those above. Keep it in the family, 2 generations of history should not be going to a stranger, it should be passed on to a third and 4th. I wish I had something that my grandfather carried in his hey day, lest alone a 1911 in WWII.

Wow! That gun is a classic. It's priceless. I would not even think about selling something with such historical and familial significance. Hope you end up coming on some money and not having to sell something that your grandfather carried through WW2.

It may not be your grandfather.......but who do you think of when you see it? Could you use it for collateral on a loan from a close friend or family member?

Lovely piece of family history. Wish I had something of my granddad's history - I remember the WW1 vintage steel pots hanging in his garage, sold in an estate sale, along with his medals. He wore them in the first tank battle in WW1 (the Somme). Hope you get to keep this.
