On further inspection the finish on the Colt is stainless not nickle. Mexicancolt wants to purchase a nickle gun only to complete his collection.therefore the gun is still for sale.

I will take it if stainless but I'm 99.9% sure that gun is indeed nickel (possibly e-nickel). Shot you a pm

I think the term in "bright nickel" and btw this is the best factory DA revolver available. I had a chance to buy one this summer for $1600 and I took a day to make sure it was what I wanted and the guy took it off the market after he realized what he had.

Do you have the original box with this as well?

Bright stainless is a stainless gun polished to shine LIKE nickel but is not
Nickel at all. In person you will see that nickel guns have a "yellowish" tint to them and bright stainless just shines like chrome.
                You sure of that, Dex?

The Python was originally available in two finishes: Royal Blue and Bright Nickel. The Bright Nickel model was discontinued with the introduction of the more durable satin stainless and mirror-polished Ultimate Stainless models. The stainless steel and Royal Blue finishes were offered until 2003 by Colt on the Python "Elite" model.

"Demands were made for other finishes beside Royal Blue, so over the years Colt offered the Python in Bright Nickel, satin electroless nickel known as "Royal Coltguard", and in the early 1980's in satin stainless steel and in bright mirror polished stainless steel, variously known as Bright Polish or Ultimate Polish."

The gun is now sold. I don't collect Colts and bought this gun on a whim. There was an S stamped on the left side of the grip frame under the grips. The first potential buyer passed as he wanted a 6" blue a 6" stainless and a 6" nickle and he was needing the nickle to complete the set. He advised me to search various areas for either an N or an S stamped. Regardless of the type of finish I could have sold the gun several times over.

Just look everything up that you are arguing. I will leave it to you to figure out how right you are.

I have a true stainless that has a polished mirrored finish. Stainless models have 3 "s" markings stamped on the frame. This not not a nickel finish.

I am not arguing anything. My initial feeling was the gun had a nickle finish and advertized it as such. The gun had an s stamped on the left side of the grip frame. I didn't raise the price. The gun would have sold with either finish. You Colt collectors can argue it out.

Unfortunately we can no longer confirm what it was but I'd put $500 on it being nickel if we can get more pics. Any takers ;-) ???
