A long gun/handgun split make browsing so much easier as a buyer, which then benefits the seller's. It allows you to shop for what you want without having to sift through the chaff.

Let the buyer's and seller's decide how far they're willing to travel.

It has happened. Sometime in 2013 it looks like. The marketplace used to be one forum with handguns and long guns all listed together.

I agree, but it needs to be limited to major metro areas, like how Craigslist is set up. I wouldn't travel half the state to make a deal happen.

I know this is super old I'm a new member but how hard would it be have a paired down Craigslist style sortable list , in my experience looking through the ads to try to find something is very slow...a craigslist type of sortable database with s few set parameters would solve most issues.

Split by firearm. Sellers should post geographical area in the posts header.

Split by geography is best. I hate seeing a post where I'm very interested in a firearm only to have to read through all of the information and find out at the very end that it's geographically incompatible. Would like to know that from the beginning. Will some sellers May ship, shipping fees along with additional FFL fees generally make it cost prohibitive

Some buyers are willing to make the drive depending on the gun. Also, those that live near the geographical split would need to visit both forums to browse.

Could you just make region/location a mandatory field when posting?
i.e.
- NorCal/SoCal
- Check boxes for counties where the seller is willing to travel
- Make shipping an additional check box

Keep the current split. Just make specifying the location mandatory to post. If you make it a drop down or a fixed list of general locations, it will make it easier to search. Then posters can add more specific detail if so inclined
