That is the same as bumping to say SOLD, which is specifically against the rules.

Do not make a new post to say SPF or SOLD. Simply EDIT THE ORIGINAL POST TO PROVIDE THAT INFORMATION.

To say, "SOLD," and be done with it.

This is one of my issues on this site… going to a post and reading the entire thread only to see it has been sold on the last post and not in the title. would assume if a post is 6 months to a year old and hadn’t been bumped Items are sold? I would suggest a time limit on sell threads. There are sold threads still active from 2010. Ive pm’d sellers without any reply and then the same sell thread gets bumped the day after asking if it’s sold? Another manditory item should be images of the item with username posted in the image. sending a phone number txt or email is a scammers delight. This would weed out phishing for personal information. I can volunteer to help out clean up/delete threads if needed. Cheers fellas

            Hello Moderators,

I am looking for some insight on why my thread was locked. Here for reference:

I double checked the rules and do not believe I broke anything. In all my Marketplace listings I ensure all information is clear.

I went back to the thread to update the Listing from SPF to SOLD and I saw it had been locked. Looks like I need to create a new listing for the remaining firearm I have for sale, which is not a big deal, but still looking for some insight so I know what I did wrong.

            Thank you in advance.

Appears because of Marketplace Rule #4.

The ad was inactive and closed.

No activity for 72+ hours = inactive.

Inactive = closed to prevent necroposting on old ads.

                  Hi Quiet.

I'm not the person you responded to, but think it could apply to my request in an earlier post.

So then as Sellers we are required to "bump" our thread repeatedly to prevent it from being locked? There are dozens of threads from years ago that are still unlocked, I would think those take a priority over threads that may be days/week old?

I only ask because I do not actively bump me thread every day like some people do, as I find it annoying personally and creates a situation where you see the same ads repeatedly.

Not trying to be rude, just want to understand better.

I see reading the thread no longer stops it. Don't care for that.

As the post creator, you can do one bump every 24 hours.

If the OP does not post any new activity (bumps, adding new items, etc) within 72 hours, then the thread may be closed as being inactive.
^On average the thread isn't closed until after 360 hours inactivity.

Threads typically get closed as they get reported/discovered.
There is not enough time in the day to proactively go through every marketplace subforum on a daily basis, so implementation of this is not consistent and some subforums may not see any attention for several months.

I had 2 threads in the Marketplace that were locked during the recent conversion. One is in Long guns and one is in reloading. Can they be reopened or do I need to start new threads? Thanks in advance.

Not a moderator, but I am assuming you need to make a new one because I couldn't get my previous one unlocked either.

It sucks and it's annoying how inconsistent thread locking is but I also appreciate being apart of this community and site without constant ads so it is what it is.
