[b]Make: Smith and Wesson
[b]Model: Model 14-4 "K-38 Masterpiece"
[b]Caliber: .38 S&W Special
[b]Location (city or county): northern OC
[b]Price: $695 gun only, $745 w/extras
[b]Will ship: No
[b]Other info: have an excellent condition S&W K-38 Masterpiece w/box, tools, paperwork, and several optional extras.
This gun is 6" blue w/adjustable target sights and factory solid-ribbed barrel. It has all the original dark blue except for thin slivers missing on the sharp corners of the cylinder front and flutes, and sharp edges of the trigger guard, probably from being drawn from a holster, although it can only have been a few times. Very thin partial turn ring on cylinder. Almost all of the case color is still on the hammer and trigger.
This is the "service" variation of the K-38: it has the regular service hammer, stocks, and trigger instead of the oversized ones on the "target" variation. Both are pretty common; the "service" variation was actually used by some police officers who could carry a 6" revolver comfortably, including the very first organization that became LAPD SWAT.
Gun has been fired very little--bore and chambers look new. I haven't fired it, but it is certainly ready to shoot. Some career "desk" officers bought these for dress events and because they are very easy to qualify with. Police pistol teams also used them extensively "back in the day."
Blue box is complete and in excellent shape with very small rubs on the very sharp ends of the corners (like they all have....) and complete and intact end stickers with the revolver's serial and other factory info. Has all the tools and paperwork including S&W advertising.
Asking $695 for the revolver and factory stuff; buyer pays PPT fee.
Also have a set of Herrett's of Idaho walnut checkered oversized "Shooting Star" target grips fitted to this gun, and a new unused S&W-marked leather holster for the gun (gun has never been carried in this holster and it shows no signs of use).
Asking $750 for the set--gun, box and factory access., Herrett grips and S&W holster; again, buyer pays PPT fee.
I live in Seal Beach and will do a PPT at any mutually-agreed FFL within the OC and Long Beach areas. I prefer Ade's in Orange, RifleGear in Costa Mesa, and Ammo Bros in Cerritos, but have used many others.
Can't post pics but will email you some if you'll PM me your email address,'
