Got someone else trying to scam me. "Rarosa6" sent me a pm here saying to email someone to buy a gun. I didnt of course. Here is the convo:

Did you leave a comment too on the thread? Or was this a did not comment on sales thread, I messaged the seller directly and did not leave a comment on the sales post at all for others to see,, and then dimijim7 contacted you instead?

Possible scammer but new to CG so I hope I’m wrong. Messaged a seller and got a reply from a different user saying to text a number for faster response. I did exactly that and made every effort to try and meet but they would not meet me without sending a deposit via Zelle or Venmo and promised shipping right away with a tracking number. I really do hope I’m wrong and apologize if I offend the user just wanted to be cautious. User was “eggsnbacon”. I do see activity on the user account and even comments made just a bit fishy

I posted a reply on the sale post saying PM sent. To confirm I sent the PM to user “eggsnbacon” but the PM I received within minutes was from Kicav21618 who now appears to be banned.

Oooooooo, yeh, that?s a tricky one. That opened up a route for someone who is a scammer to look at the sales post and see who was interested. They can then check the profile of the seller to see when they last logged on. See, I had the same thing happen to me. But, I left the seller my phone number and they actually called me to meet; with no deposit required.

Did the seller ever send you a message back? How long has it been since you sent a pm to seller?

What was the name of the person that sent you a message asking for deposit; not the seller?

Scammers listed above. Will either reach out to you claiming to know seller and tell you to message their fake number which they pretend belongs to the seller.

Tips to avoid scams:
1. They provide a number claiming it belongs to seller of the post you?re interested in
2. Do a number lookup on google to check if it?s a legit wireless number
3. Ask for photos of the product along with some paper in the background that has a specific custom message
4. Do not pay any form of deposits for holding.
5. Only meet at reputable FFL for transaction after product is in FFL hands
6. Mess with the scammers a bit and waste their time
7. Happy shopping but smart shopping

Crumble619 is a scammer

Crumble619 asked to communicate through email. I did as requested and left my number to text. He did. I wanted the item and agreed to asking price. He was allegedly in Temecula so I offered him a $100 convenience fee to come to Orange County. He accepted. He wanted a $200 deposit, and I said no thanks. He had me look at his profile and it appeared he was legit. I offered a $100 deposit and he agreed. Said he would be at my shop by 10. 11:00 next day, no seller. He texted he got a flat and I needed to send him $200. I sent screenshot of our agreement from our texts. He said he wasn?t coming. No Zelle refund as he promised to do. This guy is a complete fraud and needs to be banned from selling here.

I made the mistake to respond thinking I was talking to the seller and made a deal. I was then instructed to send my payment via Zelle/Venmo/PayPal. I sent a deposit to PP account jaron@icloud.com. Then I was asked to send balance to PP account bandit2elite@outlook.com which made me suspicious.
