The 9mm upper originally was built by Ten-Ring Precision in TX. The upper info is here: http://tenring.com/?s=9mm.
This is a blowback operated 9mm upper. It will work with most MIL-SPEC AR lowers without modification (See website link above for info on possible incompatibilities), but I would suggest a heavier buffer and buffer spring due to blow back operation.
The barrel is only 11.75" but the 5.5" flash hider will bring it past legal 16" length. The flash hider is not welded on this upper. The barrel thread is 20 TPI which is not a standard AR thread.
The magazine block drops in from the top of the Lower Receiver and will accept most 9mm AR Colt/UZI style stick magazines. I've fired Promag Metal, Promag Polymer and ASC magazines with no issues. The stock AR magazine release works with these magazine w/o modification.
