    Surplus .308 - SOLD

Ok, this is Indian Surplus. And I also read all those horror stories about Indoan .308

However it appear that there are 2 kinds of Indian surplus one form 90s ( and it generally bad ) and one is from 70s ( and that has no problem, outside of being somewhat underpowered)

Now this is 70s surplus headstamp: OFV 75 M80 7.62

400 rounds on stripper clips ( 5 rounds each ) in bandoleers and packed neatly in metal can.
    $150 - SPF

LOCATION: SFV, West LA, Burbank, Glendale somewhere around.
NOTE: I had 2 cases, shot one of them with no problem, selling this only because of cash flow ( too many P7s arearound ) issues

The essence of Western civilization is the Magna Carta, not the Magna Mac. The fact that non-Westerners may bite into the later has no implications for their accepting the former.

EDIT 2020: To be fair that seems to apply to many Westerners also.

        It is 147gr.

Now primers - funny but I never paid attention and I don't think I have any spare cases around - I don't reload.

I THINK it is boxers and since it is 70s it is also non-corrosive, even though it smell kind of funny.

BTW: what different does it make? I thought that both boxer and berdan prmed cases can be reloaded ( with appropriate tools ?)

                Not true

Boxer has a primer pocket hole and just shoving a small round rod down the spent case and through the primer hole allows one to push on the primer and out it pops. The reloading equipment is set up to make this really easy.

Now berdan, think of the primer pocket as a mound of brass sticking up into the cartridge. Instead of a hole going straight through it typically has two small holes coming out the side of mound of brass. If you stick that small metal rod into this spent cartridge you end up hitting the mound of brass which is also the bottom of the cartridge. There are many reloaders that have used the lords name in vane when they ran a berdan through their depriming station on their reloader and ended up breaking the tool.

There is a novel way of using water and water pressure with home made pistons (metal rod) to use the force of water being compressed in the cartridge to forcefully go through the two small sideways holes then pop the berdan primer out. Not very practical but it can be done for collector firearms with rare/expensive ammo so it is worth while.

Last, small consumer lots of berdan primers are hard to come by and not easily understood as the few standard types of boxer primers. The two outfits that sold small lots (1000 cases) and could help you figure out which size you need recently stopped selling them due to lack of movement of the product.

Counting your time reloading Berdan primed 308 is about 10 times more expensive than buying newly manufactured 308 so it does really matter for someone that wants to also buy for the brass if this is boxer. If it is berdan then they are just renting the brass and throwing it away after the cartridge is spent.
