I'm assuming 'slick side' = no forward assist. Correct? Does the .308 have a forward assist? Does either receiver come with a BCG, or is the only BCG sold seperately? You mention 3 mags, 1 with each upper and 1 with lower. What brand lower? I'm in Sacramento. Where near Monterey?

When I took off the Troy rail I looked closely at the 243 barrel. It has an S with a circle around it indicating Shilen. It also says 3 groove 1/10 twist. Shillen doesnt make barrels for ar-10 platform any longer but the ones they make for ar-15 start at $350.
