My measurement shows 1.25".

If you use it on a Carbine length upper, covering the gas port, you need to use a low profile gas block.

Yes, the KX3 is larger than 1.25". The ID of the rails is 1.25", but there is a recess in the front. If you use the KX3, the rails can cover about 3/4" of the KX3. That's about the max you can have the rail covering the KX3.
