WTS: Win Model 37 20 guage project

I have a little pre-'64 Winchester single shot shotgun that I'll sell as a "project" gun.

It is a Model 37 "Steelbilt" single shot in the first model which had the Winchester trademark name stamped deeply on the bottom of the receiver and the letters filled with red enamel, hence it's name "Red Letter" among collectors.

This one needs to be assembled and my arthritic hands aren't up to it. It seems to be all there but needs to have the barrel and forend assembled to the receiver and stock. If it happens to need a part. they are available from Gun Parts Corp and on the internet--the Model 37 was the model Winchester made more of than any other shotgun.

28" full choke barrel with 2 3/4" chamber and about 80% of bluing w/clean unpitted bore.

Receiver is gray/brown in the ares where hunters carry their shotguns, but no pitting and most of the red enamel is present in the "WINCHESTER" letters on the bottom. Opening lever is to the right of center.

Wood is factory walnut refinished to excellent; looks near new. Buttstock is full length but fitted with a vintage "Jostam" recoil pad that is still pliable and usable, but I'll throw in a new condition "Limbsaver" pullover pad in case the buyer needs more length or a softer pad (single shots, even 20s, can KICK!).

This is C&R qualified--Winchester stopped making the Model 37 in 1963 and stopped making the "Red Letter" variation in 1951. No serial number, like many pre-'68 economy arms.

Needs to go to a C&R holder in the OC/Long Beach area. I can text or email pix to anyone who is seriously interested if you'll PM me your cell phone # or email address.

$150 OBO but no shipping. If I can't get someone to make this back into a working gun, I'm gonna part it out and sell online it that way. More $$ but a waste of a nice little shotgun, IMO.
