***NO LONGER FOR SALE. MODS PLEASE DELETE***
Hello all, I have a brand new Pelican Storm iM3100 case in OD Green for sale in the Monterey/ Santa Cruz/ San Jose area. The case is way too big and expensive for me to ship, as a private individual, so the sale would have to be done in person, and I'm willing to go as far as San Jose to do it.
I'm asking $180 for it. Here is a link to the case from Pelican's website, and the one I have for sale is OD green:
Here's the background on why I'm selling it, and more description of the case:
The case is so new that I don't even have it yet (I will provide photos to the buyer prior to the meet, so they can see I have it in hand).
I have this case on order through Adorama, (Arriving this Friday) and I want it in black. The reason I had to order the OD green is I bought the very last one they had in stock with the padded "Fieldpak" nylon case in coyote. This nylon case (not included in this sale) has been discontinued, so the nylon bag is WAY harder to find than the cases themselves. Because of this, I decided to order the green case, knowing I would sell it to offset the cost of buying a black case. You're probably wondering, but nope...they don't sell the nylon bag separately, which would have saved me a lot of money. That's a long way of explaining why I'm selling a brand new $243 MSRP case for $180. The cheapest I can find the iM3100 new is about $209, so that's a considerable savings for someone.
I own several Pelican and Storm cases, and here's why this case is so good; The iM3100 is from the Hardigg Storm line. Pelican bought out Hardigg, and now Pelican sells both their old line ("Protector"), and Hardigg's Storm line. As someone who owns and uses many sizes of both lines, I can tell you the Storm line are superior (which is saying a lot). The Storm latches are much easier to operate. The Storm wheels are set further apart, so unlike the Pelican cases with wheels, the Storm doesn't keep trying to roll over and twist on you when you're wheeling heavy objects around. The Storm iM3100 is half an inch longer and half an inch wider than the Pelican 1700, but it has 6 latches instead of 4 (two additional latches, one on each end).
The Storm cases are just as tough (many military folks I've talked to have seen the Storm cases have far fewer parts breakage issues than the Pelican line), but slightly lighter.
OK, enough background. The iM3100 is 36.5" long, 14" wide, and 6" deep (internal volume).
