Mission Viejo, Lake Forest area
Up for sale are two original Winchester model 70 walnut stocks.
Excellent condition. If you have a really beat up stock or want to restore that special rifle..
1- Take-off from a 1980 Winchester .300 Win Mag. Magnum action, magnum sporter barrel. Twin recoil cross bolts. The stock had a slight crack in the recoil area in the early 80's and I had a gunsmith epoxy repair it. It is not visible when the gun is assembled. There are a few minor scuffs, but I think they can be buffed or waxed out nearly completely. Asking $100.
2- Take off from a 1976 .243 heavy barrel. Early rendition of a varmint rifle with a sporter forearm but a bull barrel channel. This is a long action .243; that's the way winchester did it back then. This can be used for a 243, 22/250, 30/06, .284, .220 swift, etc. This stock had been glass bedded. My experience with model 70's is that the actions have been super consistent forever. I put this barreled action in a Hogue Varmint stock and tried to glass bed it and it squeezed every bit of epoxy away from the aluminum bedding block.
Anyway, it is no big deal to grind away some epoxy and re-bed your action if you think you need to. This stock is in awesome condition. Asking $100
