6.8 SPC AMMO (300 Rounds Silver State Armory) PRICE DROP

I have 300 rounds of the Silver State Armory 115 Grain X-treme load 6.8 SPC

Silver State is no longer offering this ammo. It was designed to fully achieve the potential of the 6.8 round before the industry had completely figured out proper chamber specs and proper twist rates. It is a very hot, hard hitting round.

    * Proper Twist rate and Chamber Spec is essential in using this ammo. You need a 1:11 twist rate and a SPC 2 chamber to avoid pressure problems.

So Caveat Emptor. But, if you have a 1:11 twist 6.8 Upper and a Saami 2 or SPC 2 chamber you probably want this ammo for your combat loads.

300 rounds for 400 bucks. Prefer Local FTF and I will be at the Del Mar Gun show on Saturday afternoon. Thanks for looking.

    WILL SELL FOR 350.00
WILL TRADE FOR AN EOTECH 552

I believe Noveske is still using SPC 1 chambers. From what I have learned, Twist rate is everything and more important than Chamber. SPC 2 chamber seems to be additional safeguard to over pressure.

Below is two sources for additional info/data

"Can someone tell me what an SPC-II chamber is?"

It is a long and convoluted story...the short answer is:

      * In the "early days" most 6.8 SPC barrels had 1:10 rifling. There were accuracy issues (over stablizing they lighter bullets) and some pressure issues due to "confusing" SAAMI chamber spec.
      * Enter the trend for most good manufacturers moving to a 1:11 barrel. Accuracy issues seems to resolve themselves but there were still some overpressure reports. Most seemed to be related to 1) heavier bullets, 2) thicker brass 3) hot-rodded loads
      * The SPC-II chamber is a "solution"...it has a more generous neck diameter and a longer throat/leade.

As I understand it, if you have a SAAMI chamber and 1:11 barrel, you are good to go for 99% of loads. SPC-II seems to clean up most of the rest of the issues.

This round will not work in an LWRC 6.8SPC. I ended up exchanging a case of this stuff with SSA. The primers were blowing out.

I did a quick search and it looks like your twist rate is wrong and so is your chamber for this round. In which case, I am not surprised that you had issues. This was all detailed in my post.

So, your post doesn't really help in any way. It actually kind of craps on mine by making it look like bad ammo. Especially as you do not identify your twist rate and chamber to either support or oppose the facts that this ammo would be fine with the proper twist rate and chamber.

If your upper is the proper twist rate and the right chamber AND the ammo had problems, I and everyone else should know about it. If not, your post is at best misleading.

Silver State is great ammo, and a strong supporter/developer of the 6.8SPC rouond. The "combat" loads offered here are a accurate, fun round to shoot - given you have the right chambering/twist.

More information can be found at http://www.68forums.com/forums.php , including a list of manufacturers & models identifying chambering and twist rates for the 6.8SPC.

Let me know if you decide to ship ....

Gmoney, I am not sure but I will see if I can search and find a definite answer to your specs. That answer may depend on how long ago (or how recently ) you bought it. Any more info you can provide re your specific upper/rifle will help to narrow it down. Thanks for the interest.
