Mangled brass when depriming used brass

I'm very new to reloading and I was trying to take out the spent primer "case" out of some "Miwall" reloads that I fired. I'm using a Hornady single stage press with a resizing/depriming die. I've attached a pic of what's happening. The case of the right is, I don't know how to describe it, messed up as compared to a normal on the left.

I seated the die like everything I've read, push the piston all the way up, screw the die down until it touches and then give it another 1/4 turn.

What am I doing wrong ?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Gerald

wrong forum, but you need to back off your die. It's not set up correctly.
