Green tips have a steel tip and lead plug, making them exempt from armor-piercing (AP) status. The core in M43 AP is pure steel. These are true AP rounds and extremely hard to get your hands on

Are steel core hardened steel or mild steel?

According to AKFiles and a 30 page thread regarding this specific ammo.

            1. It is mild steel, not that "special or unique" AP ammo.
            2. It is Corrosive.
            3. Recall might have been due to the corrosive nature of this ammo, and incorrectly marketed non-corrosive on website. "shoulda kept that e-mail."

              Incorrect on all counts.

              1. It is mild steel core (MSC) with a copper-plated steel jacket. It is functionally equivalent to the banned Chinese steel core that is so sought after. US federal law classifies these rounds as "armor-piercing" by definition. What "special AP" were you thinking about? Incendiary black tip API rounds? Because these are not that, and I never claimed them as such.

              2. The ammo is non-corrosive, as stated by ZSR themselves. After 200 rounds and no cleaning, my barrel shows no indications that this ammo is corrosive. But of course, I trust some people on a forum running uncontrolled experiments over the actual manufacturer, who is legally held liable for their product description.
              9x19 - 5.56x45 - 7.62x51 - 7.62x39 - 12.7x99 mühimmat - boxer kapsül - ses ve rubber mermi - av ve spor fişekleri - sivil patlayıcı üretim ve satışını yapmaktadır.

              3. The ammo was recalled because it was not known to be AP at the time of sale. That is directly from the distributor's recall email. So unless you have another email indicating the ammo was found to be corrosive, you should keep your thoughts to yourself.

                  Glws.

The 35+ page thread on AKfiles is available to look at for AKfiles members.
