    New To AR world.

What ammo is recommended for target shooting?

My AR is a Colt lower with 1:7 twist.

Someone told me only use 62gr and up but he didn't say why.

For just blasting away and having fun at the range, use whatever you got.
The bi-metal Russian stuff will wear down your barrel faster but is so much cheaper that some say use it and buy a new barrel after a long while....
Your 1 in 7 twist will stabilize the heavier 62, 68, 77 gr ammo so it'll probably work best with the heavier ammo. 1 in 9 etc is better with lighter ammo so I've read.... 62 gr PMC bronze is a good value. You can spend more to get a little better grouping. If you're really serious about really tight groups spend the money on 77 gr OTM from good quality brands like Hornady and Black Hills. But for fun, PMC and similar brands will do just fine.

Wrong place to post this. Post in - General Gun Discussion

Regarding what ammo is recommended you should first be aware of what ammo can be used on your AR; .223 5.56, etc. If it can only shoot brass and not steel casing ammos. All those should be looked at before you purchase any type of ammo.

I'm using tapatalk and I thought I was in general gun my bad.

        It's chambered for 5.56.

My AR is 5.56 NATO chambered, for plinking I use .223 55g steel case ammo. Walmart sells a box of Tulammo 20 for roughly 5.50 (~0.30 per round), that's if you can find them. Unless I'm stocking up on ammo, I will always buy the cheapest ammo I can find for plinking.

            Thanks Albs

So 55gr Ammo Dogs Factory Reloads should be ok for Target shooting.
