IMO, if you're really looking to get a KSG, then spend the few extra bucks and get the gen 2 over the gen 1. Once you're already spending that much on something, what's just a few hundred bucks more?
There are literally dozens on Gunbroker, right now, under $800, and no one is bidding on them. I call that a hint.

I disagree about all the KT bashing, I have owned quite a few of their products,
beginning with their tiny, tiny .32's that really shook the CCW world, to their .556 folding rifle that is light, compact, easy to use and (was) very affordable, and now I'm a proud owner of their P40 sub-compact, one of the smallest, lightest pistol in the .40 cal division.
My plan is to add a .357 sig barrel onto it, then it would really be a power house, sending lead down the pipe at around 1400 fps with almost 500 foot pd of energy, all that weighting in about a pound or so.
Yes, they are not pretty to look, but pretty functional and definitely serves its purpose. Just like any other companies, not all their products are perfect but I think they definitely have a market niche and innovative in their thinking.
I shall wait til the KSG gets a clean bill of health before investing into it but overall, I think it's a great company that's worth supporting.

Not all kel tec is bad. But so far I've had bad luck with pmr30, RFB, and ksg. All 3 had some problems. Half of their stuff I would consider it novelty items just because my experiences. However, I never had any issues with the 32 or 380.

              I paid $850 for a Gen 2 about 6 months ago. I'd skip this Gen 1.

As to the bashing, my KSG Gen 2, Sub2000 G17, and Su16 CA have all run flawlessly. I know some have had issue, but I really enjoy all of my KT's and would buy all three again.

Didn't see it was a Gen 1, but anywho all the blanket bashing of Kel-tec is a little much? Let's try to focus on just the KSG

But I like bringing my pitchfork and torch to Keltec threads.
