Hmm. VERY tempting... I've been wanting to replace my old busted one for some time.

Although this comment from the comments page worries me a bit:

can't speak for the 12", but the 8" is utter crap.

huge, huge, huge amount of runout! make it pretty much unusable for any precision work.

depth stop is made out of soft plastic, and will flex by a good 1/8" - you're never going to make holes of consistent depth. it finally broke after about a year.

you can find the exact same drill press branded by several different companies. no idea who actually makes it.
EDIT: Btw, just for reference: http://www.amazon.com/WEN-4208-8-Inc.../dp/B00HQONFVE

Note, the depth stopper is made out of plastic. The plastic piece will deflect and eventually break. You will not be able to get accurate depths since it moves as you push down harder.

pretty good reviews on Amazon for it. 4.2/5 isn't bad by any means.

Sounds like something that wouldn't be very hard to replace though right?

Doesn't seem much better than the harbor freight version sold for $40 with coupon.

I have this exact model and yes, this does happen (especially if there's lots of chatter because you're trying to mill an 80% lower before thinking about what you really committed yourself to).

I use a C-Clamp, Vise Grip, anything right behind the stop bolts. Keeps them from traveling up from the vibration. I don't care so much for down, going too keep is what scares me.

If I had to do it again, I'd spent a few bucks more for a larger one that locks in the down position. But I've milled out 2 80% lowers on mine, so it's very capable. Probably half a notch above the Harbor Freight one.
