My wife bought me the Nikon P223 for christmas...it was 150. Is this a better scope for an AR?

So, this or the P223 better for a 223 AR?Visit my Channel "Steel On Target" on YouTube and subscribe. I post gun videos reg regularly.Comment

Looks like pretty similar in design, except reticle. P223 reticle is for 223 cartridge and PROSTAFF looks like general. At list this is what I see.
As far as what is better-it is personal preference. I have now on my AA 16" EOTech EXPS 2-0 with EOTech magnifier and will swap it to PROSTAFF. EOTech is very sensitive to astigmatism and looks like I have it.Last edited by Palmaris; 12-21-2013, 10:50 AM.sd_shooter:

I just bought 2 of these. You won't find it for <$200, so for a range gun, it's a great deal. I've been really pleased with my other P-scopes...they are very bright for the $$.NRA Benefactor Member

screw it. im sticking with the P223. I was about to order this for a future hunting rifle but I managed to not order despite good price. I figured sales will come back later down the road.Visit my Channel "Steel On Target" on YouTube and subscribe. I post gun videos reg regularly.Comment

thats the carbine P223, I got the longer one. I'm tempted to get this prostaff as well but since im sticking with one purchase I figured I'll choose the one MADE for the .223/5.56Visit my Channel "Steel On Target" on YouTube and subscribe. I post gun videos reg regularly.Comment

Anybody have any thoughts on picking one of these up to use with a Rem700 SPS-V .308 until I can get some cash together for a good quality optic? I am interested in giving it a shot for a few months or so. I'm sure I could resell it for $100 or so later so I'd only lose ~$40 to get to use the 700 til then. Itching to shoot it but no sights or optic on it yet. Worth it or no?Comment

Worth it. I have an older Prostaff on my .270 and haven't had any issues. I would not hesitate to put it on a .308.Comment
