Not really a deal @ $215 but its Ceracoted in FDE and they rarely release lowers out.

If you're not a Resident Evil fan then you wouldn't..

Hey, if you have to have a mark on your lower, it might as well be something sorta cool.. and they aren't priced that much more than any other lower..

I understand the fascination, but I don't understand how they could build their name (and the only reason people want their products) by ripping off Capcom (who made the Resident Evil series).

They acquired the rights to the name IIRC so I'm sure there is some royalties involved.

Yea, as stated they have rights from Capcom to use the name "Umbrella Corporation" and the logo too. No "ripping off" involved

I finally got one of the HUUCR's, she's pretty nice.

would be less to just pay to get the icon engraved on your lower, if you must have the logo.

Any links to back this up? For the record, I would very much like to be wrong here. If that were the case, my respect for both companies would go up.

When these lowers first came out a year or two ago, there was a lot of question as to the licensing. As I understand it, this company registered the name "Umbrella" for use in the firearms industry, which was somehow legal to do (I'm not a lawyer, so I can't explain the technicalities) without having to license it from Capcom.

As for the logo, it actually cannot be copyrighted. Here's a wikipedia link. Technically, ANY company could release a lower with an umbrella logo.

I don't see the logo as a registered trademark in the USPTO database, so there's no restriction to use it.

also, simple geometry shapes are not eligible for trademarking.

I would like to get one but the cheapest transfer I can find it 75$, I aint looking to pay that on a $215 lower, FDE and Umbrella corps or not.
That is pretty awesome though. I really want to get it.

                              It was mentioned here:

As far as legalities I don't know. I would assume if there was some licensing needed UCWRG took care of it.
