I bought the Cannon a couple of months ago. I like it because it fits in a closet. The only problem is that it is pretty full because I pile all my ammo in it with my firearms. I might get a second one to match. It's easier to move the smaller ones and two small ones are cheaper than one giant one.

I have the same logic when it comes to safes:

In the event that you move, it will be easier to move multiple smaller safes.

More importantly, having your firearms distributed to different safes makes it less likely that if you actually get burglarized by someone who actually tries to break into the safe, they may get into one of them but there will likely not be time to get into multiple safes. (This is predicated on the idea that all the safes are bolted down and you have an ear piercing alarm going off and barking dogs, alerting the whole neighborhood to the burglary in progress).

Since there is so much chatter over this safe, let me re-emphasize that I have one in my living room. The same exact safe. It is nicely finished and works great. It feels durable and secure. The inside carpeting is well done and does not feel flimsy and cheap.

I tipped the delivery driver and he put it into my garage. Completely and totally worth the money. It is actually miraculous that the price has not increased at all from last year. I paid exactly the same amount pre-panic.

There isn't must posting in the safe section of CalGuns forums. I was just wondering how this safe compares to the AMSEC or the Champion one in the Spring Turners catalog? They are all in the same price point. Just wondering which you would choose?

I just spent a few weeks looking at safes before buying one. This bighorn is the entry level made in china product from Rhino. The AmSec turners always advertises is the TF series, also the entry level china made safe. I don't know about champion.

I would go with the AmSec if they are about the same price, but check out a safe store before purchasing. I got mine at Deans Safe and would recommend them. Just tell them your budget and they will recommend a safe for you.

FYI: it's pretty typical that the actual capacity is about 1/2 of stated capacity, if your rifles have pistol grips and/or optics.
