950??? i can't wait to see what the arsenal will be. -
It's a pretty nice gun, I got mine from a LGS just as the panic ramped and shot it for the first time last weekend. Compared to my Saiga 7.62x39:
- Much more 'rugged', heavier barrel, heavier gas block
- More recoil due to slant brake vs. full AK74 style brake on my Saiga
- Much better finish, it is either parked or blued. The Saiga factory finish comes off easily and is worse than any Walmart paint. (I blasted and refinished my Saiga for this reason.)
- No chrome lined barrel, but it doesn't bother me because I clean my guns
- Has a little latch that prevents accidental opening of the dust cover
- The comb on the stock is a little high compared to a normal AK stock, a cheek weld on the forward part of the stock actually hurts. A little further back is better.
It took standard AK double stack magazines without problems, there was no wobble whatsoever.
Overall it's a fantastic gun! BTW, this is the "gen2" model with the double stack bolt.Comment

Yes we were able to locate a handful of these from another dealer and paid a high price but in a market where we can not get anything we have to pay what they are asking or not having anything to sell . On another note these are the newer models that have the traditional dust cover and side mount receiver rail.

are these the ones that were modified by Century?...
I'm a huge fan of Zastava - have the single stack PAP and the current double stack converted by Century - but they used the same bolt modified for single stack... the gun is rugged and well built - but Century didnt do a very good conversion - several FTF.
I have a standard Yugo bolt (to replace the modified bolt), but need to find someone to check head space do some tweaking for me"Kamala is a radical leftist lunatic" ~ Donald J. TrumpComment

I would love to know if these gen 2 models are coming in with the correct double stack bolt. Or are they still using the incorrect one stack bolt that was giving so many people problems? I have yet to see a direct answer from Atlantic. I recently purchased a PAP M70 from them about a couple days ago and i hope i dont have to do too much work on it.
Ive also heard guys had problems with he feed ramps, and the dimples in the magwell being a tiny bit too big. I would bet that century or whoever would have caught on and started fixing this problem with this new batch...im hopingComment

the Zastava PAP that is shown is most DEFINITELY the Generation 2, no ftf issues...mine was made july 2012, and was a Gen 2...no picatinny rail on top but scope rails on the side

It says "Yugo pattern RPK reciever..."

mine was made 5/18/12... however, that's the manufacture date (from Zastava)...
It was not manufactured the way we end up with them... Century mills out the mag well to accept double stack mags - but they keep the single stack bolt (the one that came from Zastava).
I've read that some people have no problem - and of course several of us do... probably due Century's hit & miss QC.
So unless they started using a different bolt after May 2012, it's a QC issue."Kamala is a radical leftist lunatic" ~ Donald J. TrumpComment

Here are some crappy cell pics of mine to show the differences (and lack of)
first bolt is EAA Zastava PAP (the single stack), second bolt is the CIA Zastava PAP (the double stack) and the third is a standard Yugo bolt...
both the Zastava bolts are the same (because both rifles come from the factory as single stack)... century modified the mag well but didn't replace with standard bolt.
The single stack bolt occasionally has problems picking up rounds in a double stack mag. From everything I've read (which is a bunch from a lot of different forums) it is definitely intermittent between guns - which I attribute to poor quality control from Century.,"Kamala is a radical leftist lunatic" ~ Donald J. Thank you LBDamned for posting those pictures. I am more than curious now to see if the PAP I ordered a few days ago will have any changes to the bolt or magwell from yours. When i get mine in i will take some pictures of the bolt and magwell and compare with you guys. Atlantic seems to say that they got a whole new shipment in from a different dealer and they had to pay what they had to pay to get them, trying to justify the 950.00 price tag i believe.
I am really an AR guy but always wanted an AK. So when all this obama-ness started going on i thought i might as well jump the gun and get one while i can. Im just hoping that i didnt end up getting an inferior AK compared to a converted saiga or really anything else. From what ive heard these guns are great from the factory and even considered a premium AK but them the drunk monkeys at century get their hands on them and hog out the magwell and just screw it up big time....myabe im wrong though it seems like a company who deals in gun conversions would listen to the consumers and fix what they are doing wrong. but maybe thats just meComment

for those with GEN I or GEN 2 (not the PAPs with thumbhole stocks)
if ur that paranoid about having a single stack bolt issues, get a double stack bolt and swap it out and headspace correctly....u'll have no problem...Comment
