If your willing to pay these prices, there is plenty of ammo to buy out there.

It started this morning at around $0.60/rd, keeps going in and out of stock, now at $0.70/rd. Me thinks they are testing to see how high it can go before the sales slow down too much

unfortunately I think that ammo prices will be prob 20% higher a year from now than they were pre- CT shooting. Think the general feeling is that its only a matter of time before they outlaw them

Thats makes .223 about $500-$550 per thou. Better than $700. But still.

I think they'll tax them so it's more and more expensive to use/stockpile certain types of rounds that are not "hunting" in nature. What's the justification for doing so? Because they can...........

I hate how all these ammo vendors continue to mark up the prices on ammo at a ridiculous rate so we have to pay twice as much because of the craze. Obviously it is just the smaller wholesalers and the vendors themselves marking this stuff up and not the mfr. If it were the mfr increasing their prices, large retail chains such as Walmart and Sportsmans Warehouse would of raised their rates too as you can bet their not going to take a monetary loss, but instead they seem to remain the same.. Strange...

I'm not in the industry, so I don't have any firsthand knowledge either way. But don't assume that pricing at the manufacturer level hasn't budged. The big box retailers typically have backorders with manufacturers, which would of course be locked in at the pricing available at the time the order went in months ago. Sometimes the retailers factor in increased pricing into current/newly available stock, but not always.

I've noticed in anecdotal reports from CGers that pricing for .223 ammo can vary from Walmart location to Walmart location.
