We either change the spirit of the thread to "under $7"...
or call it "right around $6"...
or just wait it out.
Just a hair over $6 not "new manufacture" but it is brass so 1 out of 3 criteria, I guess

There was a spike in prices and some panic buying happening one to two months ago, but that seems to have calmed. Ammo was selling for $350 - $380 per case plus shipping back then.
Currently, you can find ammo for $300 - $350 plus shipping.
In 2010/2011, a decent deal on .223/5.56 ammo would have been $300 shipped. So $325 shipped isn't too far off from that.
IMHO, I don't think ammo will be going down in price any time soon, not until 2013 at the earliest.Comment

Please excuse me, I meant of course:
$6.13 per box of 20
As exiled so graciously points out that would be 30 odd cents per round.

Glad I grabbed 5k of PMC back in the Spring when it was $279.00 per 1k. I think I am at the threshold right now, it just seems too much to pay .34 to .38 per round for 5.56 ammo, not worth it. Screw it...decided to try zinc plated steel.
5.20 per box of 20 = 0.26 per round = 259.98 per 1k delivered!
Anybody try this stuff? I ordered 2k rounds. Figured I'd give it a good try...
I read it's a little dirty but shoots well and is better than the coated steel cases.
FYI, this stuff is apparently magnetic so don't take it to your local range. I shoot in the desert.Comment
