Have you ever placed paper targets or cardboard around the outside of a steel target and then shot it? The spalling and shrapnel is pretty damn gnarly.Comment
-
When actually it absorbs no force so if the spalling does get into your neck or biceps, the force of the plate can potentially break a rib.
Sad truth is a plate carrier to protect one's organs is not cheap and shouldn't be. A decent set of level 3+ plates is $400, that's not bad.
Now if you just want to crossfit in your driveway then get steel plates.Comment

Nobody says that.. it's just a strawman statement to try and make those the disagree you seem stupid..
Weak
Steel is cheaper.. ceramic and such is superior in many ways.. steel is more durable and never ages out.. ceramic and such has less spall issues and is way lighter

I don't think anyone can really beat botach prices regardless of their customer yada yada. Especially their 10x12 poly plate for $99. Lets be honest if its all you can afford its definately beter than nothing.A guy told me one time "don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat from around the corner"
