The free DROS really makes it a great deal. For a $200 firearm, that's like a 12.5% discount right off the bat.

        Thanks OP.

What would be a better choice for strictly a HD shotgun?

This Maverick 88 or Stevens 320?

The Maverick 88 has a longer track record, and as you become more comfortable with the platform, is more customizable (you can change stocks, barrels, etc).

That being said, most people who carry/use firearms for a living increasingly advocate a rifle/carbine for home defense. Here's a particularly humorous example:

Damn might pick one up, the free DROS really makes it a good deal on a already cheap shotgun.

I've been shopping around for a shotgun but damn 40 inches long is nuts. I live in a condo so it's already tight space as is. I wish they made these like the size of the an m4 rifle

Respectfully, complaining about the overall length of a shotgun is like griping about the handguards on an AR-15. Just change them out!

Put a pistol grip on there:

                  Or a folding stock:

                  Both are California legal!

And either stock makes your shotgun shorter than an AR-15/M4 (even with the 18" minimum barrel length for shotguns and the 16" barrel length for rifles mandated by federal law).
