    Sears-(Westminster) Closing

Stopped by yesterday and all tools 15% off with some 25% off. I assume the entire store has some great deals.

Wow, down the road of obscurity. Who remembers buying a Sears Roebuck 12 ga from the store? You pay and take it home. Shoot it in the backyard.

No but I remember lusting at the models in the bras when the catalog was mailed to the house.

Outside holiday months, that mall is DEAD.

I remember circling gifts that I would like out of the Sears catalog for Christmas gifts.

              It's like that old saying...
              nothing lasts forever.

(but we will probably not appreciate whatever it was when we have it and then miss it when it's gone.)

It's hard to tell these days. Bob's furniture took over the old Sport Chalet. I definitely didn't see that one coming.

I believe guns were sold as tools as late as the early 1970s.
I bought my Marlin Glenfield 60 at Kmart around 1973 or 1974.
I don't remember any special requirements -- it was like buying a power drill.

My Marlin Glenfield 60 has no serial number indicating it was manufactured in 1968 or earlier.
I believe is was $49.95 plus tax out the door.

sears use to have the tools market cornered with their craftsman line.

but then they got cheap and started making them in china. poorer quality and now people just goto home depot or lowes and buy the store version tools like husky or kobalt. while it is still made in china, at least they know it up front and the quality is now on par with craftsman for less cost.

Sears used to be known for their Kenmore appliances and Craftman tools but they lost bulk of their business to other Best Buy, Lowe's and Home Depot that sell better quality appliances and tools. They also shot themselves in the foot by taking over the defunct Kmart. I can't remember the last time I'd shopped at Kmart.

Actually, you've got it backwards. Kmart emerged from bankruptcy and bought out Sears! Now they're both going down the tubes!!

When Sears goes, part of America will die with it. When the last one closes I feel like Jim McKay should should be on TV saying, "They're gone. They're all gone."

Wow, I grew up right there. But yeah, I have no use for Sears now other than warrantying out a broken tool .
