That looks pretty slick, but the $8.49 price is unbelievable. I have to wonder about the quality. Any experience with this brand?

I can believe it'll work, I've got one of these below from HarborFreight, it's listed as $7.99 now but when I bought mine back in the day it was $4.99 on sale I think, and that had to be at least 5 years ago, maybe more like 10....and it still handles keeping the battery on my garden tractor topped off.

I have no in trepidation they will work, i bought 5 of them. I have 3 motorcycles, 2 cars not driven much, 2 deep cycle batteries and a tractor. I'll be replacing the 5 HF chargers i bought 10-15 years ago that are still working. These are rated for AGM batteries, my HF ones werent but they still worked on them for the past 10 years. The Optima battery is my tractor is 15 years old.

My only concern would be an over charge situation and potential fire. For the price, I'm sure it will charge, I'd just be Leary of leaving it unattended in my garage.

For$20 I'd just get a Schumacher and be done with it.

First off, NEVER EVER charge a motorcycle or similar sized battery at more than 2 amps. 1.5 is usually preferred. Otherwise you'll cook that battery.

Also, if the charger isn't a smart charger than can detect the battery charge as it approaches fully charged and regulate the charging voltage and then shut if off automatically, you MUST monitor the battery and disconnect the charger when it's fully charged.

FYI, the ONLY way to measure battery voltage is AFTER a charger has been disconnected for a minimum of one hour, two preferably. Same with running the vehicle's engine. Wait a couple hours, THEN check voltage. Otherwise you get an artificially high reading.

There's a reason companies make smart chargers. Battery Tender is excellent and you can get one for about 40 bucks from Amazon. Don't cheap out. There are no free deals when it comes to battery chargers.

Ya, everyone knows that. It sounds to me like your trying to justify the 40 bucks you spent, these do everything the Battery tender does. I have had battery tenders, in fact i have a defective one now and one on a deep cycle. Read where your BT was made, they are ALL made in China, this bypasses the greedy american that is paying 3 dollars each for the Chinese to make them for BT.

                  Scam???

                  Just got this message:
"Good day, this is Sherry from ebay store.

Thank you for your purchase from our store. But we have a bad news that due to the quality of this batch of items is not as we expected ,so that we have to return them to our supplier for good ones, but they told us that they don't have this item available now. And certainly we can't send the bad quality ones to you.

To solve this problem, how about we refund you ?
Sorry to give you any inconvenience and hope you can forgive us and accept our apologize and your understanding is greatly appreciated.

                  Looking forward to your reply.
                  Best regards,
                  Sherry"

I've responded to them that no, I would just prefer that they send the "bad quality" units which I have paid for.

                  Let's see how they respond...

So the question is, which is worse -- the quality of the product, or the seller?

If you were actually reading the whole thread, the seller said it was a quality issue, which i called out BS, it was just an excuse to try to get out of selling the items too cheap..

It was rhetorical snarky...he understood but I think you missed what he was doing there.

Good for you to get them to admit it. More greed than smarts to put that in writing. You should send that to ebay and see what they do, if anything.
