Not saying at all that a Benelli is a bad shotgun !

I don't mind spending money on guns but not that kind of money on a shotgun for home defense (compared to a 930)

Only if I would use it in competition

And than probably I would go a step further than an M4

      But that's just me

seems like a good deal if you need the case, knife, light and other stuff.

nothing wrong with spending $$$ on top shelf stuff if you have the means.

i was saving for an M4, but about a 3rd of the way through i decided to buy a reliable pump and divert the rest of the money toward things i don't consider a "luxury".

        /but then, i don't kill people for a living

serious question here, I bought a 870 when I was 18 a long time ago, shot it for a couple of years, clay / target. Never shot it since. I just remember the recoil bruising my shoulder pretty good even in my teens when I would recover quick.

Thinking of another shotgun and Im ok with spending 2K on quality. I haven't shot this model but I'm looking for and if such an shotgun exists in 12 gauge that has a recoil system that absorbs a majority of the force. It's not worth it for me or enjoyable to shoot and have pain afterwards.

Things I don't want- shoulder pads, light loads, a 2k shotgun that kicks like a mule...I won't use it.

I saw a video a while ago on the AA-12 in auto mode and the shooter was operating it with one hand without shouldering with minimal recoil. I'm looking for something like that- obviously not in auto mode but something that has manageable recoil. Im not sure if the AA-12 is even evailable in CA or what it costs? Thanks for the replies!

the M4 does reduce felt recoil compared to a pump, as some of the energy is diverted to the cycle action. there are numerous articles by people you should trust more than me...

I own both the Benelli M4 as well as a 930 SPX.

It took me a lot of tuning to get the 930 SPX to cycle reliably even with high FPS loads. The 930 SPX also is picky about shell hull length.

On the other hand the Benelli M4 pretty much eats whatever gets put through it. The ARGO gas system the Benelli M4 uses is really reliable.

Yes, there is a price difference between the two but if you want your semi shotty to go bang every time you pull the trigger, the Benelli is a true winner.

I just wish the case was a Pelican 1720 instead of a 1740.

                  I think the case is a 1720. The 1740 is a 12" high case.

People are talking about "gas" recoil systems. I thought all Benelli shotguns were mechanical systems?

benelli has a great inertial system (using springs in the bolt and stock) but the M4 uses the A.R.G.O. - Auto-Regulating Gas-Operated system.

Anyone own an remington versa max? Doing research, the Versa Max seems to be the lightest hitting recoil semi? I'm looking for a light hitting 12g semi in 18" config.

So we have a $1700 shotty package that normally sells $2500
                          So 1700 in price
then 225 in tax since you will probably get hit with the full price

It seems that you are looking closer to 1925 alone of the rifle before Dros ir any applicable transfer fees

Is it possible to buy the rifle without all that other stuff youlll never use?

                            $1,799.98 + $139.50 Tax = $1,939.48
                            $581.84 Deposit required.
                            $1,357.64 Due at DROS

It is possible to buy the same shotgun without all the extra stuff, but it is the same price or more at other places. I agree with others that I wish they would discount the price of the shotgun by itself rather than add the kit. I would guess that Benelli controls the price like other manufactures. You can't discount the item but you can add things to sweeten the deal.

The shotgun, by itself, is at Rifle Gear for $1,799.00 so you could save $1
Here is the product info. See if you can find it for less anywhere else.
