Wasn't there another ammo site advertising these and Malaysian surplus with "chance of surface rust" ?

I don't like the sound of "bi-metal jacket with lead core." This could mean the projectile's jacket is composed of a much harder alloy right? What does that mean for my barrel?

Also, 147 grain is typical for mil surplus right? For reference I'd be shooting out of an LR-308 pattern rifle. It has a 20" barrel with 1:10 rifling. Is this a good load for that setup?

I'd buy it. But upon checking SG saw that shipping for 2 crates was only $20, but the taxes was almost another $40 bucks. Ugggg. Put the ammo at almost 50 cents a round.

            I'll wait.

I bought 2 cases of it! It groups alright, about 2MOA at 100yrds from a trashcan used as a bench. Was shot from an M1A. The Bi-metal jacket didn't seem any more ferocious than any regular FMJ's or something similar.

A buddy picked up 4 cases. Between us, some of the cans com dirty, other come with the latch that doesn't engage at all (likely the bottom of a tall stack). But I haven't ran into any issues yet, nor has the humidity been extra high in one.

Bimetal means two metals. There is no legal definition, so it could mean almost anything. It might even be used to describe an alloy. A standard FMJ has two metals, copper and lead, but I doubt that is what they mean by bimetal. Usually bimetal means two different metals bonded together. Plated lead bullet could be bimetal, but I think in the case of the 147gr FMJBT bullet they mean copper plated steel.

It is most likely military surplus or non-surplus made from military components. It should work in your AR-308. I have used bimetal Magtech in my guns and the bullet went somewhere near where I was aiming. It is definitely not match-grade ammo, but it is good for having fun at a lower cost than premium ammo.

I do not know if a bimetal bullet will wear out your barrel before the hot gasses from a 308 cartridge will erode your barrel. Chances are you will not shoot enough out of your 308 barrel to notice any wear, and if you do - consider the cost of a new barrel as a learning experience.

Would be nice to see which one is more accurate if at all noticeable between the Malaysian surplus and this Korean surplus. Biggest difference I see is the Korean is reloadable brass.

Where is this ammo sitting for 30+ years?

Does it stick to a magnet?
