I filled up my gas tank today when we were there. $2.43 for regular. Everyone else here in the valley is 25-40 cents higher. It's always this way here. Not so in FL for some reason.

We easily get back our executive membership fee each year. You can't beat their 90 day no questions asked return policy. No receipt?? No problem. They have it on file. I saw a video of what a product has to go through to be sold at Costco. Unbelievable. This isn't a "bulk" store per say. Quality is why we shop there. We can always trust the Kirkland brand. We should pay the fee even if we didn't receive anything back.

Everyone is different. We don't even sign up for the free memberships at Sam's Club. What a dive compared to Costco. Typical Walmart. Yes, we do some shopping at Walmart too. Did today as a matter of fact before we went to Costco which is just a few blocks away.

Don't forget your boneless chicken breasts. Below is the before and after cooking of the beginning of chicken parmesan. After butterflying and flattening, flour, egg, 1 part Italian bread crumbs 1 part Parmesan cheese and spices including garlic powder, then fry in canola for 3 minutes per side. Place on a wire mesh and put into an oven at 200 to keep for hours if needed. Get your favorite sauce, cook some thin spaghetti or similar, take out your chicken, put shredded mozzarella cheese on it, sauce it and the thin spaghetti, add garlic bread and your favorite vino, and I'm really getting hungry now.

PS: It makes a great party snack by cutting into small squares with your favorite sauces.

I have a question for your club members. Do your savings/purchases overcome the cost of membership?

I'm a single guy with a dog and heavy pocketbook for gun stuff. I just can't justify a membership despite all of the goodies there. That and I don't want to deal with the hoards of crazy people buying stuff.
the dog alone makes it worth it. treats and food are a fraction of the cost vs petco and other pet stores.

remember that everything they sell with exception to a few electronic items is guaranteed.

the pros shop costco on the weekdays either at opening or closing. noobs go during lunchtime or on the weekends.

Okay, while in FL, I got an email or it was posted here, I think it was. A membership (please note, the figures are probably wrong, but the overall result was the same), for let's say $50. I immediately would have gotten a $25 gift card to be used with my first purchase. I also would have received a free pizza and if I remember correctly a big box of chocolate chip cookies. Also, several coupons on "can't miss" items. All in all, I would have received my $50 membership cost back.

The more I think of it, it was posted here sometime in the spring.

Buy a $$$ TV or computer and 89 days later return it. Can't keep doing this, I don't think, but no where else can you do this and still receive a smile from the vendor.

I've shopped Costco from WA, OR, CA, NV, IL, FL, and probably other states and they were all the same. Just nice stores.

By the way, if you've read my posts above, the Costco that we shop at in the more expensive area here in LV, they had the tomahawk prime rib cuts for $19.99 a pound. Bleep, they looked good. A little over a pound each.

Maybe next time. These had 6-8" rib bones beyond the meat. They also had other prime cuts that really looked good. I asked the butcher for 7-8 pound rib roast with a full flap and light marbling in the center. He knew exactly what I wanted. The finished result was fork tender and very tasty. Most come out that way, but not always.

That particular Costco has an A rating. They go from A-C or at least they did. The A will have the more expensive items such as higher priced wine, jewelry, and I really believe better meats. The one I usually shop is a B and closer to down town LV there's a C. Deals and customer treatment are the same, but the products sold differ.

wow, tomahawks for $20 a pound is nuts. your costco is def better than any around me.

                    i bought these last time i bbq'd hawks for my dad's 70th:

Elevate your meals with our USDA Choice tomahawk steak! At 2.5 lbs., this thick, bone-in ribeye boasts generous marbling for an unforgettable dining experience.

just a bit more pricey but they were wagyu.

Please don't do this. This is scummy. People who take advantage like this just ruin well intended policies for people who have some integrity. Costco used to offer this same policy without any limit at all. You could return something you bought years ago, and they'd give you the lowest price they sold it for or what you paid on your receipt if you still had it. They had to put restrictions in place because scumbags took advantage like it seems you're advocating here.

Thermapen is the best but if you want a great alternative look at the Lavatools Javelin Pro

I picked one up on prime day last year for I think around $35. It is about 90% of the Thermapen at about half the cost.

They make a smaller Javelin as well for a lower price. The Pro version seemed worth the extra cost to me.

Whatever you do don't get one of those cheap no name ones on Amazon or eBay for $10 that all look the same no matter how many stars and good reviews it has. I took a chance on one of those before I got the Javelin and the thing was useless.

In that case my bad, I misunderstood. Point still stands - it's super scum when people do this and that is in fact the reason they had to stop the policy. Glad he wasn't advocating it though & thanks for pointing it out NYT.
