I've got the lower end Crossfire version of that and it's excellent. The reason I got it was for precision .22 on my Anshutz, as I wanted a super fine reticle. It has the narrowest reticle wires of anything I could find for a reasonable price, if this one has the same specs as the V-Plex on the Crossfire.

Is the HS more for hunting than bench shooting?

The sales pitch on the website seems to be focused on long range hunters. But it should work well for bench shooting too. At this price, I think it is a great option for a budget bench shooter. The only thing that may be missing is a ranging reticle, but not a problem if you don't need it.

When you say ranging reticle, you mean the BDC or the little marker on the cross line? Or both. I thought the hunting scope is also lighter but lacking on other feature for bench shooting. I have the viper and love the glass. I practice hold over with the little dot marker on the line. If that is missing then do you always use the dial all the time?

Yes, traditionally hunting scopes tend to be lighter (not sure what weight range) and have fewer technical features, while going for better glass for better low-light shooting.

By ranging reticle, I meant one of several reticles that manufacturers offer like mil-dot, and others in MRAD or MOA configurations. I suppose BDC could be used too? What you are doing as a hold-over would be easier with the hash marks.

As to dialing it in, yes, unless you are very good with doing hold over using the usual Plex reticles, dialing it in using the turrets would be the way to go. Which is kind of fun to do, actually lol! Vortex's LRBC calculator is quite handy in the regard.

If you like the Viper line (I do), then I'm sure you'll like this one.

Thanks for your help with explanation. I might just get one for one of the AR 10 and have fun practice dialing the turrets since I been using just the hash marks. As far as glass goes, Viper PST was my best but it falls from grace to 2nd place since I acquired the ziess conquest. But I will have to wait and see if the tango 6 will also best these two or not.
