I was going to buy it but decided against it after reading an argument about it blinding the user from splash back.

That's a total non-issue. My lamp that's two feet away is 1300 lumens, my garage light is 4000 lumens. It's just another one of those things that psuedo-tactical people like to overthink about.

Anyone ever forger whether up vs down is constant or momentary for the streamlight user interface? That is what is really holding me back from getting one.
it uses the same toggle. to activate the strobe function, you flick to "on" but don't let it click over that hold, let it spring back to the off position, then push to toggle to "on" and let it click (so it holds the switch to on).

so with practice, to get strobe function, i flick it with my index, then push down again.

now this is to keep the strobe on constantly. using the right side of the switch.

if you want a momentary strobe, then you hit the toggle on the left side using the same steps, but you don't have to worry about moving the switch to the hold on position. this is where you need your weak hand to activate. so if your weak hand is occupied, you will need to use the above step where it will keep the strobe on.

I have had a TLR-1 HL on my duty weapon for some time. Clearing MANY dark buildings and residences has never been a problem. I can't speak for people who shine them in their own faces or point them at mirrors, but as a weapon mounted illumination device used with rudimentary tactics, it works fine. I put the free, issued X300U in the drawer and kept my personally bought TLR-1 on my duty gun.

If used outside in wet weather, the metal parts invisible while mounted can gather rust. Remove light, clean, replace. No problem. The battery life is excellent too, and I usually change them as preventive maintenance long before they burn out.
