Couple of Vortex scopes on sale at Cabela's

I made a comment in my Active Junky thread about a couple of scopes from Vortex that I thought I'd better start a new thread or some folks won't see it.

Vortex Viper 6.5-20 x 44mm can be had using the bells and whistles for $247.52. I have one and it's a very nice scope. I believe it's discontinued, but with Vortex's warranty, who cares. No, it's still listed at Vortex. $529 retail.

Also up is the Vortex Diamondback HP which I have two of, but not the Vplex style. Mine are mil dot. I love them for an inexpensive, clear, 1" tube, scope. With the bells and whistles, it's a ridiculous price of $149.50. Bleep. $429 list.

Vortex is now making Crossfire II's with Diamondback glass with Crossfire tubes. I've seen the 4x12 going for $120.

The cabelas link shows a 6.5-20X50mm scope, with a regular price of $469.99, instead of a sales price. Even with bells and whistles, it can't be lowered to $247.52.?

Pardon my ignorance, I'm looking for an optic for 300+ yards on a Rem 700 .308... Does this fit the bill (and a good value) for something in the $200 - $300 range? I generally wanted a BDC reticle like Primary Arms.

Generally, I won't go for a BDC on a SFP, because it means you're locked in at 16x for the listed drops. Of course, if you don't mind memorizing doubled drops at 8x and 4x (and learning the scope inside-out in general), then it's all good.
You also get more robust internals with a SFP.


With the AJ and GC discount, I think it comes out to mid $200s (V-Plex reticle only; dead-hold BDC not on sale). That's pretty okay for a 4-16x50, especially in a 30mm tube with side focus.

It's no longer on sale. They did that with several of their ammo's too.
