Yeah, you just have to be patient. Cabelas periodically runs sales on handgun ammo, that will make the price when using discounted gift cards "pretty good." They also run a sale for 10% off everything plus free shipping pretty regularly. The way to get a great deal at Cabela's is to use one of those sales to buy something already on sale with discounted gift cards and ActiveJunky or similar site. With some luck you get a rebate thrown in as well. When the stars line up like that, their prices are absolutely the lowest anywhere. Be patient.

Often enough for my needs. As others have said - with the discounted gift cards, sale price + free shipping it's the best I've found online.
Have not set up the other discounts others have mentioned.
