It really depends on what you plan on mounting. I brought mines back when it used to be only the proprietary rail and it sold for $300. They have since started manufacturing in house to save money and introduce more options.

If you like Magpul accessories go MLOK

If you like BCM accessories go Keymod.

Other accessories companies out there usually cover both MLOK and Keymod options for direct mount accessories. Personally I feel like MLOK will outlast Keymod in terms of being the standard but I really like BCMs accessories.

There's really not very much reason to go proprietary unless you like their rail covers. Personally I think railscales look more badass.
