Got mine today, just opened it up, it looks all good. The correct model is DBK-412B, as someone noted above.

Can't really judge the glass, as it was dark when I got home. Yes it is made in the Phiilippines, and it is definitely not comparable to say a Viper PST in terms of the finish, the feel of the knobs, etc. It does not have nice positive 1/4 MOA clicks like the more expensive scopes. It does not have as nice a finish and feel even as found on my Leupold rimfire scopes. But the Viper PST cost about 7 times the price of this little beauty so I don't expect the same scope. Overall it looks like a lot of scope for $119 bucks. I am going to swap it out on my AR for a while. I have a 1-4x on there now with a kinda "thick" reticle which doesn't allow precise aiming. I want to try this to see how well it will shoot at 100 yards or more.

My only question has to do with the elevation knob. When you unscrew the covers on the windage knob, it is set on a "0" mark and it counts +/- 1, 2, 3... in either direction. But the elevation knob is set on a "0" mark and counts up in only one direction, from 0 to 14. I forgot if it counts "U" or "D". So if trying to adjust the knob the other way, there are no logical marks to follow. From "0" there is a gap and then the final mark "14".

OK, OK I know I am being lazy by not reading the manual before I post this, but what's the deal on that elevation knob? Does everyone who uses this scope adjust in one direction only?

Who noted that it is DBK-412B?

Opened mine today. Wow... like I said, I don't know much about scopes, but I feel I got a really good deal.

They didn't write it, but they correctly linked to it on the vortex web site in post #30 of this thread. Sorry for the confusion.

They corrected the sale price, from $299.99 with $100 off to $199.99. I hope those who got it back ordered for the $119.99 get it for that price. I read stories of Cabelas putting the wrong price and cancelling orders, glad they honored these.

This is my first scope and so I'm going to have to study up a lot on it.

I just got it and the reticle is way off-centered right out of the box. My assumption is that it shouldn't be, since it would have been centered at the factory?

Since it is your first scope, I would venture to say that you were looking thru the scope off center. Try moving your eye around and the reticle should center itself.

And understand there at least 3 inches, maybe 4, of "eye relief" -- meaning you don't put it up to your eye like a pair of binoculars. When you have it properly mounted on a rifle and your cheek properly positioned against the stock there will be 3-4 inches between your eye and the scope. If you look up close it will look all wrong with black areas around the perimeter.

It will also help if you put the magnification at the lowest setting, 4x or whatever as it will give you the greatest eye relief to start with.
