The gsg1911 is a nice gun. Pretty accurate. Got mine for $360. Guide rod broke at around 4k rounds. Replaced it with non plastic. The slide is already showing wear. But be ready to spend on ~$30 magazine

PSA had this for $180 or so last year after rebate. I was going to jump, but didn't (regret it now). Really about the only negative I found was the finish wears off easily.

My thoughts...Cheap guns are just that-Cheap- ie Saturday Night Special genre. Mags are expensive, gun metal is poor quality, fit/finish are mediocre and are finicky with ammo-all of which are to be expected by purchaser. The weapon system is not reliable, you are getting what you "paid for".

I understand that money is tight and the attraction that the availability of low cost firearms provide but, if you can't afford a decent pistol save your $$$$ until you can.

With the high cost and non availability of .22 ammo, coupled with the painful purchasing process in Cali why would you waste hard earned money on an unreliable weapon that will immediately depreciate in value...unlike a Ruger.

A dependable used Ruger semi auto pistol can be found at that price point.
Ruger's are a decent low cost dependable firearm. Deals are out there but, they may take a little work and effort to locate.

Note: my opinion take it or leave it

There were also reports early on of the slides cracking/exploding. That also fueled the "pot metal" debate.
