Most dueling trees use soft angle iron as the front post which makes manufacturing cheap and easy. The angle will deflect bullets to the side without fully fragmenting which presents a ricochet problem. Our center post is flat AR500 and will fully fragment lead projectiles @ 700 fps or faster creating a safer target. Angled center posts will also deflect misses into the swinger plates causing annoying partial turns.
One of the biggest problems with dueling trees is getting them to set firmly and level on the ground. They will usually favor one side or the other unless set on perfectly level ground and will give one shooter an advantage over the other. Our stand features a fully adjustable center post for side to side and forward angle. This adjustment will ensure equal swing for both shooters (no more excuses)
Our fully adjustable base can be set on uneven ground and hillsides firmly without staking but stake holes are included just in case. Adjustment is easy using a our optional 3/4" offset box end ratchet wrench (Craftsman). All Grade 8 fasteners. Armor is reversible for extended life.
Our Dueling tree has zero welds on the AR500 armor and swinger plates.
The hinge bracket is bolted to the AR500 center post using Grade 8 bolts.
The hinges are made from 1/4" AR500 to prevent galling.
This target is very heavy duty and will last a lifetime of heavy use. We've been shooting dueling trees since the early 80's and decided to create a target that solved all the problems of past dueling trees and we think we have done it!
