To answer your question billet is from a block of solid aluminum, forged is melted down to a liquid that looses some of its tensile strength and you get a part that is mass produced. Think of it like this. You want a nice house but can't afford a custom built one do you settle for a nice KB Home that is massed produced and not great quality but nice, well I'm offering a custom built home with at a KB price!

At the risk been ban, but at the benefit for all, what you stated is incorrect. Forging process does not melt the metal down to liquid, nor does it result in lower tensile strength of final product. Please check your sources.

Don't worry I won't report you, I'm not that way. You should find out who writes wikipedia. Forged lowers are nice lowers they have there pros AND cons.
