The LWRC "SPR" is not a "SPR" like the Mk12 Mod 0/1 from the military arsenal, but is rather, a LWRC specific configuration with a number of interesting upgrades.
This upper is a short stroke gas piston based upper, which utilizes LWRC's long running and established experience with the system.

By utilizing a lightweight handguard and spiral fluting, this upper receiver is surprisingly lightweight as a piston system upper. A factory complete SPR weighs only 7.2 pounds, about the same as a free float rail system equipped 16" DI rifle.
Overall if you were looking for a premium piston system upper for your rifle, this is it!
