Mossberg 500 Big 5 Special

I can't decide between this Mossy at this price with BOTH barrels or holding out for a good deal on an 870...The Mossy is a solid shotgun, I know, but the 870...well, it's an 870, nuff said!

What do you guys think?

I used to think the same thing then I bought the Mossy 500 since it has better options (tapped upper reciever, can hold more shells) and never looked back. I still like my 870 however.

Mossberg 500 is better for leftys like myself since the safety is in the middle back. 870 always feels smooth racking the slide but I've never had any problems with my 500.

It is just called the combo. I'll attach an ad scan (image quality is not the greatest but you can get the idea). The ad is from about a few weeks ago. The combo has also been $259 a while back when they had it on sale at the same time as the Security shotgun. I think $249 has been the typical ad price for a while. They were down to $219 a couple of times around the holidays (once with a rebate, I dunno about the second time).

Does anyone know when the last time the 590 8+1 Mossberg http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...?Item=98592245 was on sale at Big 5 and what was it selling for?

Mossy 500 cobo is a great deal, I bought one in 1996 and shot it so hard with the short barrell it glowed red on the end and warped slightly shooting clays. The barrell returned "true" and works like a charm. I have almost every tactical shotgun out there and for the money the 500 is great espec. when you get the 28" included. I have somewhere between 8500-9000 rounds through mine no probs at all. It was just scary seeing a barrell glow and tweak to the right. But all in all today I blast squirrells back in there hole at 40 yards no prob.

Sorry . I can tell you that it was in the weekly ad that expired on April 27th. Maybe that can get you somewhere. Do they keep any copies of the old ads lying around at your store? Know any friends who get the Sunday paper and keep a fire hazard pile of it in their garage?
