[AR500 Armor]

AR500 Armor is dedicated to bringing you high value gear at affordable prices, this includes our line of Trauma Plates. Each of our Trauma Plates are Hand Finished and inspected for quality. We take care not to induce any unnecessary heat in our processes to assure our armor retains its integrity, from cutting to our durable coat.

Our hand finish offers best quality in the end product giving you a trauma plate that hasn't been weakened or exposed to rust, uneven, or sharp edges. Beveled edges provide protection to your carrier and prevent wear and tear on your gear during use and training.

Rating: Level III rated and capable of defeating 7.62x51 / .308 rounds at up to 2,780 FPS, our trauma plates are stand alone and multi-hit rated.

Material: We use top quality Military Spec Mil-A-46100 Ballistic Rated Steel for construction of our trauma plates. This steel is specifically designed for use in armor applications. This steel has a similar chemical make-up to AR500, however it is not the same.

Coat: AR500 Armor use a cold coat process on all of our armor. Each Trauma Plate is Shot Blasted providing a non-corroded and clean surface followed by multiple coats of industrial grade enamel. This gives a very hard and durable finish which offers excellent protection from the elements (chemicals, moisture, and general wear).

6" x 8" ASC Trauma Plate - 2.5lbs +/-

Thickness: All AR500 Body Armor is .25" thick, providing a very thin profile.

Advanced Shooters Cut: Our advanced shooters cut allows the operator to better shoulder their rifle, using our advanced cut on either the right handed or left handed side (depending on plate orientation). This gives you an advantage of traditional cuts and designed and has minimal if any loss in coverage.



Formed Trauma Plates: Our Formed ASC Trauma Plate features 4 individual ergonomic bends and is designed to be worn as a front or back plate, providing a significantly more comfortable fit.

One question though -- your web site says "AR500 Trauma Plates are stand alone, multi-hit capable, and bench tested to the same armor rating as Type III" -- does this mean they aren't actualy Type III JIT certified but they do meet the standard...?

Also, what is the difference between the "Urban Go" and the "Operator II" plate carriers...? Thx!

We cut our trauma plates from larger master sheets that are certified, however once cut we don't consider each individual trauma plate certified. We do test each batch we cut to meet the rating however, this ensures quality after we cut our armor.

The Urban Go Carrier is designed to be a quick on/off carrier with open sides, and a quick release buckle and adjustable straps. Its cost effective and works for its purpose; designed primarily for emergency situations.

The Operator II has a removable and adjustable cummerbund which has built in side plate pockets and accepts up to 6" x 8" side plates. It also has better padded adjustable shoulder straps, inner-padding with mesh lining (better breath ability), and internal retention straps (located inside of the armor pocket) which allow you to adjust the ride height of our Body Armor.

If you plan to run drills or wear the armor outside of an emergency and its within the budget, I'd recommend the OPII. However the Urban Go Carrier for the price point is great for its designed purpose, emergency situations.
