Norcal / Martinez: Canyon Sports - I like them & their AMMO.

Smooth PPT through them. (Call to check their preferred days/hours for that. They are low-key store, but with great offerings I've stated below.) It's in a quiet safe town with nearby shopping malls to make your commute worthwhile.

I drove an hour from peninsula area after random Google Maps to meet another Calgunner from Sacramento. Otherwise I've never been to Martinez. I'll run down a list of their offerings:

    -Operated by senior, well-spoken gentleman
    -Complete selection of pistols/shotguns/rifles.
-AMMO STOCK.... (.45 acp & .22, reasonable prices)
    -Various accessories

It's a serious & complete old school American gun store. When I first stepped in, I thought: "a real gun store..." Even the other Calgunner I met who is seasoned in guns since childhood had to phone-text his buddies about this place.

They welcome level-headed and experienced gun-owners. So treat the place with respect & patience and they'll give back the same.

I guess Zach wasn't there....your experience would have been way different.

The rest of the staff are nice though.

Zach's the big guy with tats all over his arms & neck. You probably were dealing with Ron, a quiet but cool gentleman.

I live 5minutes form that store, bought my handgun from Vallejo, I called to ask if they had a gun instock the guy on the phone was a total *******, I know someone that has bought from the shop several times. He says if you walk in and ask questions they are *******s, they like when you walk in knowing exactly what you want, pretty much not having to deal with you.

              My local shop
They are a little rough around the edges but good peoples, typical Martinez folks and if you are not used to it you might get offended
if you go in there with an ego you will get shredded, if not you will get good service and deals
I was there yesterday picking up my Sako quad and there was an Asian couple in there with no knowledge of firearms and Zach was being nice and helpful to them (and no he was not pushing a sale)
If you are looking for a shop with great inventory of guns and accessories check them out and form your own opinion

ya the place is ok, i'll agree. Ive received average customer service the 3 times I've been there. Its true they are brief with people who have more than 2 questions though. I seen this white guy there that didnt know anything about pistols, and after the 3rd question pertaining to, the guy at the shop cut him off and just started helping someone else.
I must say I prefer this shop over Antioch armory though. Now that shop blows! whack whack whack a mole!

Of all the shops Ive been to in the bay(maybe 10) I have had the best experience at Jr sports in livermore. Theyre very helpful, and down to earth folks. Also another shop(cant think of the name) around south san jose/campbell border off of camden ave. Its real small but great service.

I have been buying and owning guns for over 45 years and love gun stores. I can not warm up to these guys. The prices are high and they act like (I was told by them) you have am obligation to pay the prices so there store can stay open. They have some interesting inventory but mostly new guns.

I lke the place. The older guy, ron and a few others are always nice, zach and a few others are back and forth. and I actually hope zach is there when I come in. he pissed me off a few times but we BS each other now days and he is usually willing to make deals.I go here for everything non AR. they only sell smith and wesson stripped OLL and for $300. and their parts are very expensive. They do have really awesome completed AR's though.

I live in Martinez and rarely go to Canyon. It's not that I have had a bad experience, it's just that their customer service leaves something to be desired. I will go in their for some random odds and ends, once in a blue moon.

I much rather drive 15-20 minutes and go to Triple A's out in Vallejo. The guys out there are awesome and will help you with anything you need.
