The upgrade kit is for if you have a GEN II and want to upgrade to GEN III. You're only buying the stock since you don't need the all the other parts.

Standard and Enhanced refer to the buffer tube cover. The Enhanced has two QD hard points molded into the buffer tube cover and the Standard does not. Both are for carbine recoil systems.

The Rifle kit is for rifle length recoil systems. If you have a fixed rifle length (A2) stock, this is the kit you'd use.

There are pictoral descriptions on the product pages illustrating which type of recoil system each kit is compatible with.
