That gun is so much better than an express it's not even funny.
Here is another that is probably C&R if you have your FFL- http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIte...Item=116351799I do not provide legal services or practice law (yet).

I bought mine from Turners and they had the same deal on the Remington 870's.
The HD model is a 18 inch barrel with a 2 shot extender... I was going to get that but I chose to get the 28 inch barrel because it was cheaper and I'd use it more for shooting clay pigeon/hunting.
If you want the gun for the house, then get the HD. If not, then get a longer barrel. Also, its cheaper to buy a shorter barrel in the long run than a longer barrel.
I love my Remington, its a great gun and fun to shoot in the range. Good luck!An armed society is a polite society. Manners are good when one may have to back up his acts with his life.

I recently went through this same thought process in purchasing my first shotgun. Here is what I have learned since I've purchased my first shotgun and took a NRA training class.
1. Shotguns are fun to shoot, not just for home defense. You may find the same thing, so make sure whatever you purchase can me used (or modified) for shotgun games like skeet/trap or other shooting. This may mean purchasing a model with a longer barrel with removable chokes...or just purchasing additional barrels for the home defense short non-choked guns.
2. A simple "quality for the price" (either one you mention fits this category) gun is a wise buy for the beginner. You don't know what you need/want yet, so don't spend tons of cash until you get a little experience under your belt. Over time, if you get interested in more than just home defense shooting, you will have the opportunity to shoot other, more expensive/higher quality guns. That is when you can start to compare/contrast your likes & needs vs. the expense.
3. Don't purchase for the look of a shotgun, purchase for the use. Many shotguns look "cool". Instead of purchasing based on the looks, purchase based on the usefulness of the features. For example, "Do I need the tactical stock or will the standard fit stock work for me just fine?" These are questions only you can answer, but (unless you have tons of cash to waste) be honest with your thought process. You will end up with something that you are more happy with...and is more useful to you.
Take it for what it is worth...just my experience.Comment
