For fitting into a mag length load of 2.80", I like the 6.5 Creedmore, 260 Remington or 7mm08.

I particularly like the idea of the 7mm08 because the brass from a 308 can be re-sized to 7-08 in one easy step. Hornady 7mm 162 gr. BTHP have a BC of 610 which should perform really well to 1000 yards+ when driven at a moderate 2500-2600 FPS velocity.

A fast twist 243 shooting 115 DTAC's or a 260. The 7/08 is just behind them but works very well at 1k too.
