    Long distance beginner

I am still waiting on my conetrol rings/bases. I saw this long distance shooting forum and wondered how I could have missed it before. With this piece of history You could not have said it better . I have my 06 , scope w/o proper windage adjustable rings. I have brass , powder , primers , reload gear , and an open heart. I found a 1000 yd range (Piru) with a great guy to help me out (Mike) that runs the place. I look forward to this forum and all the valuable posts within. GOD BLESS !

What are windage adjustable rings? Most folks use the horizontal turret on the scope to adjust for wind.

The forum is brand new, I was bugging Kest about it and he finally hatched it.
So all conversations are new :-)

Ive seen them but i think they are more a gimmick. If you need more windage then a decent scope offers then something is not lined up right or your shooting in a tornado.

there are some elevation adjustable that are pricey and known to work well (6-700 if im not mistaken) but havent seen many windage ones.
primer, powder, projecile, press, load, fire repeat!

You can get an adjustable inclination in that price range, but you will not find anything in a dialable adjustment that correctly tracks in that price range. Some companies are working on it, but I haven't seen anything yet that works. Obviously, to get exactly tracking, you are essentially building a tool that has the precisions of the internals of a good scope, so it will not be cheap.

06 is 30-06 . Us optics , Conetrol , and a few others make windage adjustable rings. So Your rings have a post at the bottom that inserts into the base. Your base has horizontal allen screws with a cone shaped tips that adjust Your ring from right to left. The idea is to put the scope on factory zero and adjust the scope tube to the bore before using scope adjustments. They are rock solid . Same principal as Burris signature Zee rings . Some rifles come from the factory so far off there is not enough adjustment in the scope for correction . My rifle is fine but some of us would prefer to first align the scope tube with the bore before using turrets.

they are not for dialing precise elevation, mostly just 1moa larger adjustments to regain some clicks inyour optics.

Leupold has made Windage adjustable bases for decades. what this does is allow you to adjust your scope to windage center without using your turret.

It was designed back when gunsmiths used drill presses and a forster jig to drill your sight bases holes.
