Watch the sniper 101 series on you tube.
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

I have a Savage BA110 in .338 Lapua Magnum I'd part ways with for a very fair price. Scope is a Vortex Razor 5-20 Gen 1. Very nice rifle. Shoots well... Been out past a mile with it. Just moved on and don't shoot it hardly at all anymore... Might have 200 rounds though it?

PM me if interested. Obviously will adhere to all laws and use FFL....

Ruger RPR in 300 Win Mag or 7mm. The RPR is a big rifle and fully adjustable for a great price. The 300 Win Mag with a good brake is a great combination. you can shoot over 100 rounds and not have a headache. It is like a nice push like a .45 1911 as opposed to a crisp crack of a 9mm. Not sure about the 7mm recoil, but ballistics should be even better than the 300 Win Mag. Two excellent all around cartridges and capable of long range accuracy. Especially the 7mm.

                My 2 cents.

Edit: Just learned it doesn't come in 7mm. You could always buy a new barrel if you want 7mm.

Keep in mind that there is a trade off between velocity and barrel life. A flat shooting 499,000 fps cartridge will have little drop at 1,000 yards but will burn the barrel out at 10 rounds. If you are shooting at 800 yards or less a 308 or 30-06 or 6.5x55 will work well.

Great choice but I also think that you should include ballistic calculator in your shopping list.

This thing could improve your aim and overall satisfaction from the gun!

I'm 6'2" and 190 Lbs and I shoot .224, .243 and .264 caliber cartridges for 1,000 yard matches. Anything bigger than a 308 isn't gong to make you a better shooter until you get past that range. A bigger cartridge is going to be a disadvantage in learning to shoot long range (out to 1,000 yards) with the increased recoil.

It's not that I mind recoil or anything because I regularly shoot some big cartridges but the smaller, more efficient cartridges will do the job better, especially for the first few years of learning

We all know that the guys that "need" a larger rifle are the very same guys that are only going to shoot it at 100yds on a KD range and it's really about the recoil and so they can impress their friends by pulling the big cigar sized cartridge out of the cartridge box.

If it was about hits on target at longrange, they would be asking about BC not cartridge power/size...

Most 6mm cartridges shoot just as flat or flatter than a 300 win mag to 1000yds.
